Deaths on Farms call for Hard Hitting Campaign by Health & Safety Authority

The deaths of three Irish farmers over the last few weeks has intensified the need for a hard hitting campaign by the Health and Safety Authority and the Irish government, particularly, as someone loses their life every two weeks.

They are attempting to bring home the harsh reality of the risks of personal injury and death arsing from working on farms. Working with tractors and machinery remains one of the highest risk activities, but serious injuries are also seen when working with livestock, due to dangerous attacks from bulls and cows.

There were two further deaths from drowning and from a falling bale this year, with sadly those over 65 being at greatest risk.

Here at Lanyon Bowdler, we have a specialist accident at work team to help with the consequences of serious death and injury whilst at work.
