Government Considers Change in the Law

In recent developments in Motoring Law, the Government are now considering a change in the law in respect of those convicted of Causing Death by Dangerous/Careless driving.

At present bans from driving commence from the date of sentence or a guilty plea. This means that those who receive lengthy prison sentences effectively complete their disqualification while in prison.

Under the new proposals, the disqualification will not now start until the date of release from prison meaning the person convicted will not be allowed to drive again at the time of, or soon after, their release.
