Substantial Increase in Drivers being Caught Speeding

Figures recently released by the Ministry of Justice show a substantial increase in the number of people being caught speeding.

Those convicted face a minimum fine of £100 and three penalty points for each offence.

The rise is partly put down to the introduction of digital cameras which are permanently switched on.

90,000 Caught in West Mercia Police Region

During the current calendar year so far, in excess of 90,000 motorists were caught speeding by fixed and mobile cameras in the West Mercia Police region.

Part of this may be down to the fixed average speed cameras on the M54/A5 and with further road improvements imminent, it is likely that many more people will be caught over the coming months.
